Thousands protest in Yemen after US-UK strikes on Houthi targets
Drone video shows thousands of people marching in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, to protest after the US and the UK launched strikes on targets in several of the country's cities overnight in retaliation against Houthi forces for attacks on Red Sea shipping.
The commander of US aerial operations in the Middle East said 60 targets at 16 separate locations had been hit using more than 100 precision-guided munitions. The Houthis said five of their fighters had been killed in a total of 73 airstrikes, and that they would retaliate and continue their attacks on shipping, which they describe as a demonstration of support for Palestinians in their conflict with Israel.

Yemen's Houthi rebels release Saudi attack video
Yemen's Houthi rebels on Sunday broadcast footage they said was of a major attack into Saudi Arabia that killed or wounded 500 soldiers with thousands of others surrendering.
Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, described an ambush on the Saudi forces that then developed into an "all-out" cross-border offensive that trapped the troops inside Saudi Arabia.
"More than 200 were killed in dozens of [missile and drone] strikes while trying to escape or surrender," Saree said.
The fighting took place in the southern region of Najran with video images aired showing armoured vehicles hit by blasts and surrendering soldiers.

Thousands of Houthi supporters rallied in Yemen’s capital on Sunday to mark the eighth anniversary of the Saudi-led military intervention in the war.
Houthi rebels ousted the government from Sanaa in late 2014, following years of instability.

Yemen's Houthi rebels hijack cargo ship in Red Sea
Japan has condemned the hijacking of a Japanese-operated, British-owned cargo ship in the Red Sea by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
The Yemeni militia claimed the vessel was Israeli and said the seizure was only the beginning of a "battle at sea".
But Israel confirmed the ship was operated by Japan, with no Israelis on board, and Japan's chief cabinet secretary said it was working towards the ship's release.

Yemen's Houthi leader: Any US attack would not go without a response
Any US attack on Yemen's Houthis will not go without a response, the group's leader Abdel-Malek al-Houthi said on Thursday (January 11) in a televised speech.
He said any such response would be bigger than the recent strike in which its drones and missiles targeted a U.S. ship in the Red Sea.
Yemen's Iranian-backed Houthi militants have stepped up attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea in protest against Israel's war in Gaza. Various shipping lines have suspended operations, instead taking the longer journey around Africa.
"We are more determined to continue and target ships linked to Israel, and we will not back down from that," the Houthi leader said.
